Do baby showers make you break out in onesie-shaped hives? Does the thought of hosting a Fourth of July barbecue leave you shaking in your flip-flops? Would you rather endure two hours of buzzing arcade games and stale pizza than invite a dozen children to a birthday party at your house?

I’m here to help.

No, I can’t control the weather, teach you to cook like The Pioneer Woman or ban your crazy brother-in-law from all family gatherings. But I can teach you a simple step-by-step process for planning any kind of party, and help you ditch your reluctance (or panic!) for confidence and success.

You just might find yourself enjoying your own party.

After 10 years in public relations – a twisty career path that has included coordinating press conferences, committee meetings, formal dinners, and rowdy auctions – I’ve acquired a long list of to-dos and not-to-dos when it comes to planning successful events. But my goal with this e-book is to speak to your heart, not simply your to-do list.

As a recovering perfectionist (and veteran “I’ll plan the shower!” volunteer), I know that the best-laid plans and most meticulous event timeline won’t mean squat if you walk into your event holding a bucket full of outrageous expectations and unprepared for real life.

Plan a Fabulous Party {without losing your mind} includes

50+ pages of advice and encouragement
Party planning templates from ListPlanIt
Survival stories
Last-minute cleaning tips

This e-book will walk you through the steps involved in planning any type of party and leave you prepared to handle unexpected complications or challenges. I’ve included questions to prompt you through each step of the planning process, reminders of possible stumbling blocks and surprises and a checklist to use for each of your fabulous events.

I’m excited to share with you what I’ve learned about planning parties – fabulous parties – over the years, and I just know you can do it, too, without losing your mind. It takes a little work, a lot of preparation and a healthy dose of patience (and possibly some deep breathing techniques), but planning a fabulous party without losing your mind is absolutely possible and totally worth it.

As someone who enjoys planning a party, I was excited to have a chance to review this ebook. Plan a Fabulous Party (Without Losing Your Mind) is more than worth reading. This is a fantastic resource! Mary has planned a plethora of events both personally and professionally. She offers a ton of wisdom and practical advice, in between her real life examples. I also have to give her props for the excellent quotes she includes, including one of my favorite comedians, Jim Gaffigan. If only she could have worked his Hot Pockets routine in...

One of the biggest takeaways for me is in terms of theme. I typically don't fuss over decorations, though I'm impressed with my friends that do. I focus more on the food and guests. I've thought more in the past year about being more intentional with theme and decorations. I really liked Mary's point that a theme is a unified approach. It helps us establish the purpose of the party. If my goal is for my guests to feel welcome, then how can the details of the party help me reach that goal? If the goal is for a birthday girl to feel celebrated, what are ways we can show that through the food, decorations, and favors?

Step by step, from picking a date to settling on the food, Mary walks us through the party planning process. Whether you're organizing a board meeting or throwing a pig roast in your back yard or this is first (or 100th) party you've ever thrown, you'll find the checklists and planning templates to be quite helpful.

Plan a Fabulous Party {without losing your mind} eBook Mary Carver Reviews

Hosting tends to make me hyperventilate a bit but Mary Carver's book helped me set my fears aside. She provides practical tips and insightful thoughts that will make any event in your life a joy--both for you and your guests. Her experience and warm writing voice make her a knowledgeable guide who will both set you at ease and set you free to be better than ever at hosting. This is a book I will return to as a reference again and again.
I'm the type of person who loves parties, both attending them and throwing them--but when it comes down to actually planning, I usually think that the party will plan itself and everything will work out fine.

So you can imagine what my parties are usually like.

Mary Carver's e-book is an excellent resource for people like me, or even people who are already pretty good party planners. It's a great length--53 pages is long enough but not too long to be overwhelming--and full of lists, ideas and checklists. I'm a checklist girl (sometimes I make lists of stuff I've already done, just so I can cross those things off and feel a sense of accomplishment), and Mary's checklists are perfect.

Take advantage of Mary's part-planning experience! I highly recommend this e-book!
What kind of hostess are you? Do you throw fabulous parties where everyone has a great time and marvels over your beautiful home and wonderful food? Or do you dread anything that even resembles a party, worried about every little detail and driving yourself crazy?

Personally, I'm kind of middle-of-the-road. I love the planning that goes into throwing a party or other big event. Seeing it all come together gives me a satisfaction that I really love. But sometimes coordinating all the little details can be a bit much.

Mary Carver's amazing ebook, Plan A Fabulous Party {Without Losing Your Mind}, will give you a simple, step-by-step way to put together a really great party and still have your sanity intact on party day! She's mastered the step-by-step process of planning the perfect party, and her ebook is easy to read and follow. She really does think of everything, and I love the checklists!

The book is an easy, fun-to-follow read that will make party planning an enjoyable experience rather than a dreaded task. I highly recommend this book to anyone with kids, friends, or family. After all, sooner or later, you're going to have to plan a get-together! )
What I love about this book first is Mary's voice. Just like her blog, her writing is easy to understand and funny, to boot. And it's all fantastic content. I love that sometimes she doesn't give answers but knows how to ask you the right questions so you can plan your perfect party.

What Mary does in this book is take all the jumbled things about parties that stress me out and organizes it into smaller chunks that I can think about without losing my mind<--hey, look at that! She also has a great list resource in the Appendix. Definitely a must-buy before your next party.
